Let’s start with a new chapter on www.kevinelezaj.com. Let’s start with “Health“ and its sub-categories “Fitness“ and “Food“.
It really interests me, when a new spot opens it doors. As Toni and I visit a lot, and I really mean a lot, of those culinary places, we decided to give you all informations in my category “Food“.
Here, in my “Food-corner“, the major topics will be about some hidden Restaurants, charming Cafés, and other hip places where you can grab some healthy dishes. I’ll give you a detailed overview of each places food, prices, service, cleanliness, interior, and location. All needful you have to know about eating off-site. In the end, I’ll give a strict but fair assessment (from 0-5 stars), which is also viewed on Yelp.
The real citizens of Berlin already know, the area between Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt, Rosenthaler Platz, and Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is THE culinary hotspot of the city.
And here, you really can enjoy a “good“ food. I mean, I don’t want to slander about the area at Ku’damm, but it truly is a trap for tourists and not the real Berlin.
However, we already visited “Funk You“ the third time, always for breakfast.
Here, we’ll rate flavor, arranging / appearance, and variety of the dishes. We ordered a detox smoothie, a flat white, an espresso macchiato, poached eggs on avocado toast, an acai bowl, and a salad called “que viva la musica“. Everything tasted well, the arraning of the food was nice (especially the wood-dinner tray looked stylish), expect the Acai Bowl, but this was the only disappointment in that part. Variety: Definitely a sufficient selection of breakfast-dishes, salads, and smoothies. Unfortunately the Ceviche, which Toni tried to order at each time we were there, was never available.
Rating: 4 for flavor, 4 for appearance, 3,5 for variety
Flat White: € 3,3. Totally fine.
Espresso Macchiato: € 2,5. Totally fine too.
Acai Bowl: € 7,9. Far too much.
Salad: € 7,5. Totally fine, because this one tastes really delicious.
Friendly and willing, but we recognized a clear instability of the team. It took a little time until we had all our dishes and they clearly seemed stressed. But we have to be gracious, they just opened and need some time to grow stability.
Rating: 4 for kindness, 2,5 for accomplishment
We had non-polished cutlery, that was bad.
Stylish, clean, a lot of plants. Totally my style and very homelike.
Rosenthaler Str. 23, 10119 Berlin
One of the best areas anyway, “Funk You“ totally fits into with their selection of healthy food and drinks. Disadvantage: If you want to enjoy breakfast or lunch in the sun (always from 10 am to 2 pm) you have to deal with the passing cars.
The “Funk You“ in Berlin Mitte offers a great variety of delicious and natural food. The location is nearly perfect, the interior inviting. The service is friendly but not sovereign yet. I think this associates with young and inexperienced staff. The price-performance ratio mismatches a little bit.
With a critical eye, we give a final grade of 3,5
