Dear readers, it’s been a while. I’m glad for two reasons: I’m back in Austria for some days and I can finally show you another beautiful hotel that I’ve visited here on www.kevinelezaj.com.
Currently I’m located in the “Salzburger-Land“, as we call it here in Austria. To be more precisely, in the fifth biggest ski-region of my country, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. It has 114 slopes and about 270 kilometers in total. My grandpa used to go skiing here once a year and of course, he knows this area quite well. I’ve also been here when I was younger, but can’t really remember anymore to be honest.
I’m lodged in the 4-star superior hotel “Unterschwarzachhof“ in Hinterglemm. It is family-owned for more than 100 years already, experienced a lot of changes in the region, building alterations and extensions. The Unterschwarzachhof has 38 rooms, among these are many different suites.
Back in 2010, Jacky and Toni, today’s owners of the hotel, opened the “Schwarzacher“. It is an event location where you will experience aprés-ski at it’s finest, but where you can also have a cozy dinner around stylish atmosphere. In the lounge, which is located in the first floor, you have that wonderful panorama view over the piste. The special thing here is that the lifts are in operation until 9:30 pm in the winter season, so you ski in flood light.
The Schwarzacher is also a very popular location for marriages. They mostly take place in the summer season though.
But back to the food concept in the first floor. We enjoyed an outstanding delicious dinner on Monday evening. “Sharing table“ is the motto here, a social experience where you share many different dishes from the middle of the table. I’m not sure if I mentioned this sometime, but this is my favorite way to have lunch or dinner with other people.
Located in the mountains, the family runs it’s own organic farm with a cheesery, regional specialities and products. Regionality and sustainability is priority at the farm. Here, the family produces their own butter, milk, cheese and meat, which all is being used in their restaurants. This is such a great concept, as they’re so passionate and ecofriendly at the same time.
The 1.500 m2 big spa area fulfills everyone’s wishes. “Alpine Wellness“, as they call it in the Unterschwarzachhof, is based on four pillars: Alpine character, alpine spoiling, alpine fitness, alpine health. It’s not about going with trends, it’s more a lived tradition since many years.
We had the pleasure to get to know both of the owners quite well in this short period of time. It seems like they’re welcoming every single guest with such a warmth and kindness which is almost cheesy but so real at the same time. You can talk with them about everything and anything without getting bored. They give us so many insights about their hotel, the farm, and their work and talk about everything so openly. I really feel comfortable at this place because it has tradition, quality and honesty.
