Mallorca Diary. It was 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 as we took off towards the Spanish island. AJ and I have never been there and our expectations weren’t that high to be honest.
So we landed and a fire red Mini Cooper S waited for us. We threw our luggage in and started our little road trip. We left the airport and drove some kilometers on the motorway. As we came closer to the serpentines of the north western coast we started to see how beautiful this island was.
I really underrated Mallorca and to be honest, I always just have “Ballermann“ and party people in my mind. I believe that this was always a reason that Mallorca didn’t seem attractive to me so far. Well, that changed quickly.
Thanks to the BMW group, which Mini belongs to, who organized a very short but special trip for us. They had preset a route for us, which led through unbelievable landscapes, streets, and those neat little villages. We could have stopped at nearly every corner to take photos and catch moments.
A little bit behind schedule we arrived at our hotel for one night, the Rural & Spa Sa Cabana. We didn’t have time to check in and made our way to the centre of Palma to have dinner. Getting to know some of the other invitees is always interesting, and so it was this time. Around 11 p.m. we were at the hotel, I took a shower, and finally found myself in bed.
The next morning I woke up early to get some photos ready and pack my hand luggage while seeing a wonderful sunrise from my almost 360 degree panorama room (see in the first photo above). After breakfast we enjoyed some more hours on the streets, this time with a blue Mini drop-top.
We were late again for lunch, after we walked through that narrow alleys around the Cathedral in the capital Palma, Mallorca.
Conclusion: Mallorca is way more than Ballermann. Ballermann is like 1% of the character of this island. It’s landscape is so special, as it changes so often there. Perfect for doing a trip with a small and flexible car. Oh and before I forget, we’re already planning to go back in May or June. Buckle up 😉
